Dungeness Fine Art Print

Old Norse is a Dungeness fine art print created using a contemporary digital collage approach. Dungeness is situated on the bottom tip of the Kent Coast, before it merges into East Sussex and is a very special place, for many people. I particularly love it for it’s almost post apocalyptic quality.

The vast shale beach scattered with skeletal boats and huts, alongside the make do shacks of relatively few residents are set against the backdrop of a towering black light house and a nuclear power station. Shrine like sculptures made from flotsam and Jetsam accessorise the black wooden buildings, along with fishing ephemera. It can be reached by a small steam train, as well as by car. It makes for a strange place which almost seems to have been forgotten, but which holds great appeal.

In this digital collage, I have combined original photographs taken at Dungeness to create an entirely new scene, which retains a sense of this special place. I have titled it ‘Old Norse’ because the name Dungeness derives from Old Norse nes (‘headland’), the first part probably being connected with the nearby Denge Marsh.

Buy as a gift for those who love Dungeness, or for a coastal style interior.
